With '''''Veritas''''', the idea was to be lighter, give the songs more space to breathe and be less claustrophobic." The result was a very 80s-but-fresh-sounding collection of songs. As a result of the sty..."

Released in August 2024, the album contained unreleased remixes by Nature of Wires, LorD and Master, Xxäm and Konzept. ==Concept== The idea behind the project was that new spins on songs from ''Dark Matters'' and their maxi-singles in the form of remixes are always good and since there were an album's worth of unused remixes, it made sense to release them as a collection to bridge between..."
- 01:0101:01, 28 September 2024 diff hist +1,599 N Lift Created page with "'''"Lift"''' is a song by The Gliding Faces that closes their second original studio album, ''Veritas''. "Songs like this are indicative of when things between myself and Max work really well. That descending snare sound, the strings, Max's vocals and lyrics. They just work really well in this song and despite the distance, it really goes to show you can overcome that distance when there's the requisite tenacity!" Dan likes this song, clearly. ==Lyrics== <n..."

"Should it have a comma? Or is it like a stage direction. We may never know!" Dan has opinions. ==Lyrics== <nowiki>I'm always at my Laptop So addictive, I cant stop In the café giving that look Cappuccino and a Macbook Computer You take over while I rest I'm confident you'll do your best Computer Will you pass the Turing test The singularity dispossessed..."

"This song was one of the first to be written. I think we worked on it while we were still in Coventry. It's probably the oldest song in the whole project. I like it, though, it's got a mystical energy," comments Dan. ==Lyrics== <nowiki>I've been here all day And I'm afraid It's getting darker October skies Misty and grey Winds are stronger The sha..." Dan says, of the song: "The ending of this song still gets me. Very emotional, I love it! Max had an idea about doing a song where the verses sound like choruses and the choruses are stripped back like verses. The edit for the single is pretty brutal as well." ==Lyrics== <nowiki>Kissing and holding Smiling and laughing Looking at you And always knowing Feeling and floating Cont..."

"A late entry into the project, this. We'd been working remotely on Max's side for ages and I decided to come up with something a bit funky with a call-and-response line in it," says Dan. ==Lyrics== <nowiki>I should have said this then The moment's gone So I'll move on I said I'd let it go That was a lie I'll think about this Till I die It's going round in my head In my head In..."

"We had to alter the bass on this and make it a bit more exciting and dugga-dugga wasn't going to cut it this time." ==Lyrics== <nowiki>Lying through your teeth Something I can't stand What will you gain from this Popularity? "This was one of those moments where Max starts working on a song and you're never really sure which direction it's going to go in. Max loves a bit of dissonance and BAM! Max hits you with an A♭aug as the second chord! It all adds to the tension and discomfort of the song." ==Lyrics== <nowiki>I don't believe in crystals Or auras and ley lines But last nig..."

I did some nice, bombastic drums for it and we kept joking it sounded a bit Enya-esque," comments Dan. ==Lyrics== <nowiki>Sweet, sweet relief You made a world for me where I can be free I grew in a harsh world Full of hate, my morals curled All I needed was a shining beacon To make the demons weaken Sweet, sweet relief You made a world for me where I can be free Sweet, swee..."
