"In the dead of night" is a song by The Gliding Faces. One of the many examples of the synergy between Max and Dan, this song was put together while Max was staying over at Dan and Peter's place in Coventry. The song was the last to be released as a maxi-single from the album, Dark matters.

Lyrics

I can't stop thinking
That something wants to take me
Away from my own thought patterns
 Somewhere that's not been seen

If the dark cloud hadn't come
I might have made it home
And now I'm not so sure
 Where I want to be

And sometimes I like to walk
Alone till I'm back with me

 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night

It's harder to think about truth
Or make sense of positive connotations
When I'm constantly sent down there
A place where we use fronts

And sometimes I like to walk
Alone till I'm back with me

 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night

 I'm taking a deep breath
 I'm tasting the sour air
 I'm thinking of home
 I'm thinking of no one

 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night

 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night
 In the dead of night

 In the dead of night
