Lift

"Lift" is a song by The Gliding Faces that closes their second original studio album, Veritas. "Songs like this are indicative of when things between myself and Max work really well. That descending snare sound, the strings, Max's vocals and lyrics. They just work really well in this song and despite the distance, it really goes to show you can overcome that distance when there's the requisite tenacity!" Dan likes this song, clearly. Max, of course, likes the song, too. "'Lift' is about the love and joy you feel from your partner and what they mean to you it's a feeling we've all experienced, its tangible exciting and it makes you want to do anything for that person and everything with that person."

Lyrics

I felt an eternal dismay
Only living for today
One thing after another
The future made me shudder

How do you do it
Make me feel so calm

You give me that lift
Your existence is a gift
I'm not scared in your arms
I put my life in your palms
You give me that lift
Your existence is a gift
I'm whole because of you
Till eternity it's us two

Everything's different
Understand my sentiment
Those words don't come lightly
So I’ll remind you nightly

That you mean the world to me
With you I can just be

You give me that lift
Your existence is a gift
I'm not scared in your arms
I put my life in your palms

I never felt
Like I could be
The sensitive kind
Open and ready
Now I know
it’s so easy
I get that lift
Eternally

You give me that lift
Your existence is a gift
I'm not scared in your arms
I put my life in your palms
You give me that lift
Your existence is a gift
I'm whole because of you
Till eternity it's us two
