The actual charity shop wedding dress.

"Charity shop wedding dress" is a song by The Gliding Faces. Inspired by an instagram post depicting a wedding dress in a charity shop window in Tonbridge, Kent, Dan wrote and produced the song, spinning a story that plays out over about twenty years.

Lyrics

A girl stands at the window
Nose pressed against the glass
She wants the dancing ballerina
But she's too scared to ask

The shop of wonders
Of relics gone by
Never really knowing what will
Catch her eye
The girl walks in to the
Smell of the wet
Of the place people bring things
To forget

It's dim and dusty
A tomb for our time
Some of the artefacts
Covered in grime
In the window the dancer
Jewellery box-bound
Slowly revolving and
Only a pound

Make the purchase
And get out of here
"Would you like a bag
For that, dear?"
She held the object on which
Her heart was set
From the place people bring things
To forget

Now the years pass so quickly that
A wedding dress hangs where
A ballerina sat
There was no break-up
No bitter scorn
The wedding dress label says
"Never been worn"

Charity shop wedding dress
