Between the trees

"Between the trees" is a song by The Gliding Faces. It is a B-side for the maxi-single, "What we had". "This song was one of the first to be written. I think we worked on it while we were still in Coventry. It's probably the oldest song in the whole project. I like it, though, it's got a mystical energy," comments Dan.

Lyrics

<nowiki>I've been here all day

And I'm afraid It's getting darker October skies Misty and grey Winds are stronger

The shapes of branches Remind me that Nature is wonderful I sit on a stump And breathe a sigh This chill is magical

I hear a crow Trunks bending Dissociating A single star Catches my eye My teeth are chattering

I find a patch of honeysuckle Jasmine and clover It's wonderful how life can grow In this barren enclosure

Between the trees Minds are still Between the trees Time is killed Between the trees Darkness creeps Between the trees Hearts can speak

It's 5am My hands are numb And I feel at ease I'll come again Tomorrow night Looking for more peace When I leave I'll feel renewed Almost weightless It is a gift Between the trees Away from this mess

Between the trees Minds are still Between the trees Time is killed Between the trees Darkness creeps Between the trees Hearts can speak

I found a stream And walked to the edge Felt the water Agitated the bed On the other side A black, shiny dove With piercing eyes Showing me love<nowiki>
