<nowiki>I know you wanted me to stay
But I can't ignore the crazy visions of me in LA
And I heard that there's a special place
Where boys and girls can all be queens every single day

I'm having wicked dreams
Of leaving Tennessee
Oh, Santa Monica
I swear it's calling me
Won't make my mama proud
It's gonna cause a scene
She sees her baby girl
I know she's gonna scream

God, what have you done?
You're a pink pony girl
And you dance at the club
Oh mama, I'm just having fun
On the stage in my heels
It's where I belong down at the
I'm up and jaws are on the floor
Lovers in the bathroom and a line outside the door
Black lights and a mirrored disco ball
Every night's another reason why I left it all

'''"Wrecking ball"''' is a song by Miley Cyrus from 2013. It was re-recorded by [[The Gliding Faces]] for their 2026 covers album, ''[[Eye to eye]]''.

==Lyrics==
<nowiki>We clawed, we chained our hearts in vain
We jumped never asking why
We kissed, I fell under your spell
A love no one could deny

Don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you
I can't live a lie, running for my life
I will always want you

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me
Yeah you, you wreck me

I put you high up in the sky
And now, you're not coming down
It slowly turned, you let me burn
And now we're ashes on the ground

Don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you
I can't live a lie, running for my life
I will always want you

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me

I came in like a wrecking ball
Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung
Left me crashing in a blazing fall
All you ever did was wreck me
Yeah you, you wreck me

I never meant to start a war
I just wanted you to let me in
And instead of using force
I guess I should've let you win

I never meant to start a war
I just wanted you to let me in
I guess I should've let you win
==Lyrics==
<nowiki>We live on a mountain
Right at the top
This beautiful view
From the top of the mountain
Every morning I walk towards the edge
And throw little things off
Like car parts, bottles and cutlery
Or whatever I find lying around

It's become a habit
A way
To start the day

I go through all this
Before you wake up
So I can feel happier
To be safe up here with you

I go through all this
Before you wake up
So I can feel happier
To be safe up here with you

It's early morning
No one is awake
I'm back at my cliff
Still throwing things off
I listen to the sounds they make
On their way down
I follow with my eyes till they crash
I imagine what my body would sound like
Slamming against those rocks

And when it lands
Will my eyes
Be closed or open?

I go through all this
Before you wake up
So I can feel happier
To be safe up here with you
==Lyrics==
<nowiki>Looking from a window above
It's like a story of love
Can you hear me?
Came back only yesterday
I'm moving further away
Want you near me

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

Sometimes when I think of his name
Well, it's only a game
And I need you
Listen to the words that you say
It's getting harder to stay
When I see you

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

This is gonna take a long time
And I wonder what's mine
Can't take no more
Wonder if you'll understand
It's just the touch of your hand
Behind a closed door

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
<nowiki>They tried to catch a falling star
If all the history is true
She's gonna end up just like you
You made it to the other side
But tell me who will be my guide?

They build you up so they can tear you down
Trust the ocean you'll never drown
Who is next? Who's gonna steal your crown?
You'll see

I have learnt my lesson well
The truth is out there I can tell
Don't look back and don't give in to their lies and goodbyes
Northern star

Fulfil the longing in your heart
Then we will never be apart
And if they dare to question you
Just tell them that our love is true

They buy your dreams so they can sell your soul
Is it any wonder we've lost control?

==Lyrics==
<nowiki>A spaceman came travelling on his ship from afar
'Twas light years of time since his mission did start
And over a village he halted his craft
And it hung in the sky like a star, just like a star

He followed a light and came down to a shed
Where a mother and child were lying there on a bed
A bright light of silver shone round his head
And he had the face of an angel, and they were afraid

Then the stranger spoke, he said "Do not fear
I come from a planet a long way from here
And I bring a message for mankind to hear,"
And suddenly the sweetest music filled the air

And it went la la la la, la la la, la la
La la la la, la la la
La la la la, la la la, la la
Peace and goodwill to all men
and love for the child
La la la la, la la la, la la
La la la la, la la la
La la la la, la la la, la la
Ah ah ah
Ooh ooh ooh

This lovely music went trembling through the ground
And many were wakened on hearing that sound
And travellers on the road, the village they found
By the light of that ship in the sky, which shone all round

Then just before dawn at the paling of the sky
The stranger returned and said, "now I must fly
When two thousand years of your time has gone by
This song will begin once again to a baby's cry."

And it went la la la la, la la la, la la
La la la la, la la la
La la la la, la la la, la la
This song will begin once again
to a baby's cry
And it goes la la la la, la la la, la
La la la la, la la la
La la la la, la la la, la la
Peace and goodwill to all men, and
love for the child

Oh the whole world is waiting, waiting to hear the song again
There are thousands standing on the edge of the world
And a star is moving somewhere, the time is nearly here
This song will begin once again, to a baby's cry</nowiki>
==Lyrics==
<nowiki>See the rivers filled with rain
I wish it could be blue again
Hazy petrol nights
Crimson sun on traffic lights

A perfect day, a perfect night
Tell me all those perfect lies
And lie back in the garden till it's light
Streets get full up every night
With people buzzing round the lights
And waving at the taxis driving by

Now tomorrow's here today
And yesterday's todays just fade away
Watch the morning chase the night
Rolling home it's getting light
Feeling sleepy full of wine
Fall in bed just in time

The perfect stare of perfect eyes
That kiss you as they tell you lies
And wonder where you're going where've you been
In towers high with time to fill
Gardens on your window sill
In between the pavement and the sky

Now tomorrow's here today
And yesterday's todays just fade away
Tell me why
All the words will never come out right
Fumbling blind
I've been driving through the danger signs

A perfect day a perfect night
Tell me all those perfect lies
And lie back in the garden till it's light
Perfect silence me and you
It's really me I really do
Remember every moment magnified

Now tomorrow's here today
And yesterday's todays just fade away
==Lyrics==
<nowiki>AI Overview
The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near
The winter winds will be much colder
Now you're not here

I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them
Now you're not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
'cause you're not here
'cause you're not here
'cause you're not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
As if to hide a lonely tear
My life will be forever autumn
'cause you're not here
'cause you're not here

==Lyrics==
<nowiki>Oh, the night is my world
City light painted girl
In the day, nothing matters
It's the nighttime that flatters
In the night, no control
Through the wall, something's breaking
Wearing white as you're walking
Down the street of my soul

(You take my self)
You take my self control
You got me living only for the night
Before the morning comes, the story's told
(You take my self)
You take my self control
Another night, another day goes by
I never stop myself to wonder why
You help me to forget to play my role
You take my self, you take my self control

I, I live among the creatures of the night
I haven't got the will to try and fight
Against a new tomorrow, so I guess I'll just believe it
That tomorrow never comes
A safe night
I'm living in the forest of my dreams
I know the night is not as it would seem
I must believe in something, so I'll make myself believe it
This night will never go

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh (oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

Oh, the night is my world
City light painted girl
In the day nothing matters
It's the night time that flatters

I, I live among the creatures of the night
I haven't got the will to try and fight
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

You take my self (oh-oh-oh), you take my self control (oh-oh-oh)

==Lyrics==
<nowiki>First I'd like to say that I'm sorry
I've done all the tricks that I can
Cinnamon bun in the oven
There's a fire in my hands

Did you see the light this morning?
Sometimes there's this extra air
Sometimes I can keep my mouth open
I would stay if I dare

Did you hear what they call us?
Did you hear what they said?
My plan was flexible
Don't get stuck anywhere

Can I just hold you for a minute?
Some things just ain't easy to repair
The person who came here was broken
Can you fix it, can you dare?

Did you hear what they call us?
(They call us, they call us)
Did you hear what they said?
I've got plan that's flexible
(It's flexible, it's flexible)
Just don't stop anywhere

It's a common misconception
This is not a band
Ready for a dissection
Now Mummy's gotta work, see the land

Did you hear what they call us?
(They call us, they call us)
Did you hear what they said?
I've got plan that's flexible

==Lyrics==
<nowiki>First I'd like to say that I'm sorry
I've done all the tricks that I can
Cinnamon bun in the oven
There's a fire in my hands

Did you see the light this morning?
Sometimes there's this extra air
Sometimes I can keep my mouth open
I would stay if I dare

Did you hear what they call us?
Did you hear what they said?
My plan was flexible
Don't get stuck anywhere

Can I just hold you for a minute
Some things just ain't easy to repair
The person who came here was broken
Can you fix it, can you dare?

Did you hear what they call us?
Did you hear what they said?
I've got plan that's flexible
Just don't stop anywhere

It's a common misconception
This is not a band
Ready for a dissection
Now Mummy's gotta work, see the land

Did you hear what they call us?
Did you hear what they said?
I've got a plan that's flexible
Just don't stop anywhere</nowiki>

In the silence of your room
In the darkness of your dreams
You must only think of me
There can be no in between
When your pride is on the floor
I'll make you beg for more

Stay with me
Stay with me
You'd better hope and pray
That you make it safe back to your own world
You'd better hope and pray
That you'll wake one day in your own world
'Cause when you sleep at night
They don't hear your cries in your own world

==Lyrics==
<nowiki>I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty

I don't care 'cause I'm not there
And I don't care if I'm here tomorrow
Again and again I've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much

I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun

When I was a very small boy
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see

That's the price that we all pay
The value of destiny comes to nothing
I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there's just no way of knowing

I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty

The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I feel you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding

I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
Ooh, don't you wanna take her?
Ooh, wanna make her all your own?

Maria, you've gotta see her
Go insane and out of your mind
Latina, Ave Maria
A million and one candle lights

I've seen this thing before
In my best friend and the boy next door
Fool for love and fool on fire

Won't come in from the rain
She's oceans running down the drain
Blue as ice and desire

Don't you wanna make her?
Ooh, don't you wanna take her home?

Maria, you've gotta see her
Go insane and out of your mind
Latina, Ave Maria
A million and one candle lights

Ooh, don't you wanna break her?
Ooh, don't you wanna take her home?

She walks like she don't care
You wanna take her everywhere
Ooh, it makes you wanna cry

Maria, you've gotta see her

==Lyrics==
<nowiki>She came from Greece
She had a thirst for knowledge
She studied sculpture at
St Martin's College
That's where I
Caught her eye

She told me that
Her dad was loaded
I said, "in that case, I'll have a rum and
Coca-Cola,"
She said "Fine."
And then in thirty seconds' time
She said

"I wanna live like common people
I wanna do whatever common people do
Wanna sleep with common people
I wanna sleep with common people like you."
What else could I do?
I said, "I'll see what I can do."

I took her to a supermarket
I dunno why, but I had to start it somewhere
So it started
There
I said, "pretend you've got no money"
And she just laughed and said, "ha! You're so funny!"
I said, "yeah!
Well, I can't see anyone else smiling in here!"
Are you sure?

You wanna live like common people
Wanna see whatever common people see
Wanna sleep with common people
You wanna sleep with
Common people like me
But she didn't understand
And she just smiled and held my hand

Rent a flat above a shop
Cut your hair and get a job
Smoke some fags and play some pool
Pretend you never went to school
But still, you'll never get it right
And when you're laying in bed at night
Watching 'roaches climb the wall
If you called your dad he could stop it all, yes

You'll never live like common people
You'll never do whatever common people do
Never fail like common people
You'll never watch your life slide out of view
And then dance and drink and screw
Because there's nothing else to do

Sing along with the common people
Sing along and it might just get you through
Laugh along with the common people
Laugh along even though they're laughing at you
And the stupid things that you do
Because you think that poor is cool

Like a dog lying in a corner
They will bite you and never warn ya, look out!
They'll tear your insides out
'cause everybody hates a tourist
Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh
Yeah!
And the chip stains and grease will come out in the bath

But you'll never understand
How it feels to live your life
With no meaning or control
And with nowhere left to go
You are amazed that they exist
And they burn so bright whilst
You can only wonder why

Rent a flat above a shop

'''"Tired of running"''' is a song by [[The Gliding Faces]]. It was written during the ''[[Spectral]]'' sessions and is the B-side to "[[Onyx]]".

==Lyrics==
<nowiki>Woke up again, chasing gold
Dreams that I carry feel old
Time keeps stealing my peace
Moments slip by
I'm never at ease

Tired of running
Who I became
Tired of running
No one to blame
Tired of running
Running away
Tired of running
Tired of running

Sooner or later I'll hit the brakes
Living my life in a heartbeat
Filling my mind with impossible stakes
Living my life in a heartbeat

Maybe one day I'll be faultless
Stop living my life in a heartbeat
Why is my time always so fruitless
Living my life in a heartbeat

Maybe I'm ready for silence and space
But I keep sprinting, my life is a race
Still I pretend I've figured it out
But every success just echoes my doubt

Tired of running
Who I became
Dan says, "I had the idea of doing another album of the same songs, alongside ''Spectral'' just as a bit of fun, really. We'd spent so long working on the album that we were so used to the songs and because we had created just the album tracks and B-sides, we hadn't actually created a pool of 25-odd songs to work from. So the extra effort we saved there went into making a remixes album, where we took turns in remixing the songs. Six of mine, six of Max's. It was a fun exercise in learning nothing!"
Dan says, "we really wanted to react off the first album, ''[[Dark matters]]'', which was texturally very rich and dense lyrically. With '''''Veritas''''', the idea was to be lighter, give the songs more space to breathe and be less claustrophobic." The result was a very 80s-but-fresh-sounding collection of songs. As a result of the style of the music, the album art leant into the aesthetic of 80s with vibrant hot pinks and deep blues. With "[[Runway]]" suggesting a boxing ring, that design element was used as well as the laser beams from "[[Last night]]".

'''''Veritas''''' is the second original studio album by [[The Gliding Faces]] and the fourth major release by the duo.

==Concept==
